Australian Boomers centre Jock Landale signs with the Memphis Grizzlies for 2025-26 season

Australian Boomers centre Jock Landale has signed as a free agent with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The 29-year-old was waived by the Houston Rockets at the weekend and joined Western Conference rivals, where he is likely to play a more significant role behind Zach Edey.

The Rockets, who was waived Landale before the guarantee on his $8M USD salary kicked in, is believed to have signed for the veteran minimum $2.5M USD.

Memphis starting centre Edey is recovering from an ankle injury and the Grizzlies traded back-up Jay Huff to the Pacers to make room for Landale.

He will compete with Brandon Clarke for back-up minutes.

Memphis is Landale's fourth NBA team after San Antonio, Phoenix, and the Rockets.

His fate was sealed in Houston when the Rockets re-signed New Zealand centre Steven Adams and signed Clint Capela to bolster a front court that also features Alperen Sengun.
