Australian men's basketballer Rocco Zikarky is now an NBA player, drafted by the Wolves

Australian centre Rocco Zikarsky has been selected with the 45th pick in the 2025 NBA draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Zikarsky follows in the footsteps of Luc Longley, the first Australian men's player drafted in 1991 with the 7th overall pick, by Minnesota.

Sydney's Tyrese Proctor was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 49th pick.

Sydney Kings' NBL Next Star Alex Toohey was selected by the Golden State Warriors with the 52nd pick.

While Illawarra Hawks NBL champion Lachlan Olbrich was selected with the 55th pick by the Chicago Bulls. He is now a two-way teammate of Australian Boomers star Josh Giddey.

ESPN's Jonathan Givony reports: "Rocco Zikarsky will spend the next two seasons on a two-way contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, a source told ESPN. Will give the Australian plenty of time to develop alongside Rudy Gobert and Joan Beringer."

Post-Draft, Tasmanian sharpshooter Reyne Smith was signed to a Summer League contract with the Denver Nuggets.
