The Boomers' Olympian will have a new club for the 2025-26 season after two years at Shiga Lakes.

  • Brock Motum will play with Toyoma Grouses in Japan after deciding to depart the Shiga Lakes
  • Motum won the Japan B League scoring title, averaging 21.4 points per game
  • He will not be returning to the NBL despite being a coveted signing

Brock Motum, the reigning B.League scoring champion, has signed with the Toyama Grouses in Japan, marking a significant move for the former EuroLeague forward, reports BasketNews. The deal, negotiated by Charles Misuraca of SLASH, sees Motum continue his impressive career in Japanese basketball following a standout season with the Shiga Lakes.

The Australian star dominated the scoring charts during the 2024-25 B.League season, averaging an impressive 21.4 points per game and amassing 1,135 points total – the most in the competition – despite missing seven of the 60 regular season games. His exceptional shooting from beyond the arc, where he connected at a 40.9 per cent clip, further cemented his status as one of the league's premier offensive threats.

Following his coronation as the B.League's scoring champion, Motum reflected on his achievement with characteristic focus on continuous improvement.

"It's a great feeling to lead a league in scoring, it validates that what I am doing is working," Motum said after earning the prestigious scoring title.

"It takes a lot of energy and focus to consistently produce every single game so it's nice now to reflect back on the season I had and appreciate it before I start working out again in the offseason on how to be even better next year," he added.

His accolades and decision to depart the Lakes also come after basketball.com.au had an exclusive interview with Motum about his journey so far.
