Germany beat Turkey 88-83 to win EuroBasket 2025, completing a historic World Cup - Euro double.

Germany have been crowned FIBA EuroBasket 2025 champions, edging Turkey 88-83 in a gripping Final in Riga, Latvia.

It marks their first continental title since 1993 and adds to their FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 triumph, making them just the fourth nation to hold both trophies simultaneously.

Isaac Bonga was named TCL Player of the Game after finishing with 20 points and five rebounds before a sold-out crowd of 11,000 at Arena Riga.

Dennis Schröder capped Germany’s flawless campaign by taking out the MVP award, dishing a Finals-record 12 assists to go with 16 points. Schröder was joined in the All-Star Five by teammate Franz Wagner, Turkey’s Alperen Şengün, Greece’s Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Slovenia’s Luka Dončić.

Türkiye fell agonisingly short of a maiden EuroBasket crown, suffering their first defeat of the tournament after eight straight wins.

For coach Ergin Ataman, who visits Australia this week as part of the Pavlos Giannakopoulos Basketball Tournament, there was still recognition - he was named Best Coach after guiding Turkey to their first podium finish in 24 years.

Earlier in the day, Greece secured bronze with a 92-89 thriller over Finland, thanks to Antetokounmpo’s dominant 30-point, 17-rebound, 6-assist display.

It was Greece’s first EuroBasket medal since 2009.

Finland’s breakout forward Miikka Muurinen was honoured as the inaugural Rising Star, while Bonga added another accolade as the first-ever Best Defensive Player.
