How to watch the NBL1 Mitsubishi Motors National Finals from Friday, August 29 and August 31, 2025

Defending NBL1 men's champions Knox Raiders have pulled out of the Mitsubishi Motors NBL1 National Finals because they couldn't field a team.

It's opened the door for NBL1 East Minor Premiers Illawarra as the host conference to fill their spot at Southern Cross Stadium, Tuggeranong, between August 29 and August 31, 2025.

"While it's unfortunate that our reigning champions are unable to field a team in this years NBL1 National Finals, we understand their situation," NBL1 general manager Dean Anglin said.

"We are excited that the Illawarra Hawks will be joining the list of teams competing in Canberra. The Hawks had a fantastic year, finishing as the minor premier of NBL1 East, and will be a great addition to what is already an impressive field of teams heading to Canberra."

It's unlikely NBL1 East MVP Todd Blanchfield will suit up given the Illawarra Hawks NBL squad plays the Adelaide 36ers on Wednesday, August 27 and Perth Wildcats on Friday, August 29, 2025.

The remaining two teams — NBL1 West Men's and Women's champions — will complete the bracket during this weekend's Grand Finals.

Cockburn Cougars complete the women's bracket after beating Warwick Senators 91-71 on Saturday, August 23, 2025 in Perth.

Geraldton Buccaneers complete the men's bracket after beating Warwick Senators 81-78 on Saturday, August 23, 2025 in Perth.

"The NBL1 National Finals are truly the pinnacle of semi-professional basketball in Australia, and we are incredibly excited to bring this event to Canberra for 2025," Anglin added.

"Seeing teams from across the country battling it out over three days for the title of NBL1 National Champion will be electric, and we can’t wait to see the passionate support from fans for their respective teams."
